Shoebox Exhibition

I found out about the following on the Topshop blog and I think it's a fantastic idea.

"We were really touched when we found out about Shoebox living. This exhibition aims to raise money for the amazing chcharity Kids Company and we think the idea is brilliant!

They’ve asked children they consider vulnerable to take a shoebox and, in it, recreate a room from their home and then give a short description of what they did and why. The result is some inspiring pieces and a real insight into these children’s worlds. The kids’ boxes are to be stacked together to create a tower block of their shared experiences and outlooks and will go a long way to helping the charity raise money for art workshops and art therapy for traumatised children."

The exhibition took place yesterday and all the finished pieces will be sold off in a lottery auction and there are plans to take the idea around the country, ending up with an entire estate of shoebox living that visitors can walk through.
